I made a mini mug with a little tea bag hanging from it for my mom and decided I like working with clay, so I went to Hobby Lobby and got a pack that had 25 different colors of little sticks of clay. They aren’t that big, but there are a lot of different colors to use. What do you think I should make with it? I wanna make something that would be cool like the mug, cuz my mom really liked that. I attempted to hand sew a couple of garments but ran into WAY too many problems. I go to college, but will be graduating in a year or so. I would like to start making the designs in my head, but I have no machine and don’t really know where to start looking for a good one. I have a couple of part time jobs right now so I figure I can afford to spend up to about $100. That’s about half of one paycheck for me. My parents are helping me pay for school. I know I would still have to buy patterns and other materials, but I really need the sewing machine to start out with. I recently got a table at an arts and craft show. I design and decorate ladies shirts with paint, sequin, stones, etc. When I signed up fot the show I was asked what I would be selling and was told it could not be commercially made items. It would be something that I had to have done by hand, which meant my shirts were fine. I sell other items as well like fashion jewelry, but by no means do I make these so I did not bring them to the show. Imagine my surprise when more than 75% of the vendors were selling only commercial items, like fashion jewelry stamped made in China, figurined stamped made in China, and packaged toys. There is nothing craft about it. I recently attended another show that was the exact same way. Is this how craft shows are now? Like a flea market?
