Any Moms–need your advice?
My mother is turning 50 in April and I want to get her something really special as a present. My Dad and I are throwing her a surprise party already and he is getting her jewelry so I don’t wanna get her jewelry too. I’ve already made her a scrapbook for another occassion so I can’t do that. She’s not really into cooking, fancy art, and I don’t wanna get her clothes. I can’t spend alot of money, but I’m trying to save now that’s why I’m thinking about it early.
I want to get her something special and memorable—any ideas would be really appreciated.
Are these traits predominately masculine?
>I dress like a girl mostly
>I mainly wear jeans, polos, t-shirts, some ‘frilly’ shirts, and a dress once in a great while.
>I mostly wear flip-flops or gladiator sandals, and sometimes I’ll wear some heels.
>I wear jewelry, but just plain basic stuff.
>Logic appeals to me
>I love art/and architecture.
>I have NO desire to be a mother [don't like kids]
>Perfectionist
> I’m not one to cry normally, and seeing people cry makes me uncomfortable.
>Good at fixing things.
>Good at reading a map.
>Love REAL rock music, even the older stuff. I can’t stand pop or crap like that.
>I’m not athletic, and not really into watching sports or anything. >really competitive
>I’m a natural leader.
>I can be really shy as well.
>rebellious at times
>I think in lists [as you can tell hah]
Am I what you’d call a tomboy from this description? Or not..
I know this is all terribly stereotypical sounding but it’s all true/
I have an art question?
I made a mini mug with a little tea bag hanging from it for my mom and decided I like working with clay, so I went to Hobby Lobby and got a pack that had 25 different colors of little sticks of clay. They aren’t that big, but there are a lot of different colors to use. What do you think I should make with it? I wanna make something that would be cool like the mug, cuz my mom really liked that. I really wanna make sure I make good use of it. Is there anything that would be similar to it? But whatever I make has to be little unless I use a few at a time.
Also, what are some crafts you think I would also enjoy doing besides working with clay? I already know I like painting, drawing, and making jewelry. And what are some tips on keeping the clay smooth? I really like making things and want to know what else I would enjoy. Also, please tell me what I would need and where I could get it from. 10 points for best answer! Thanks!
Why do people stereotype Goth/Gothic?
I am a 39 year old Mom with a 13 year old daughter who is considered to be a “Goth/Baby Bat”. We live in a very small rural area. She herself does not ever claim to be a Goth, even though she is interested in many Gothic type things, mostly music, art, poetry and creating her own look. Yes,she does wear mostly black, and spiky jewelry, and that kind of thing. She does not get mad,she usually just ignores people who laugh and say dumb things. However, she is getting weary of people in the community-adults included, and extended Family asking if she is “Goth” or acting like she is going to eat their younger kids or worship the devil, etc. She is very aware that dressing and liking the things she does will bring such reaction from those who don’t understand. She would really appreciate any input from older Goths as to why people always have a tendency to think the worst just because of what she likes. I was Gothic myself in the late 80’s,early 90’s,but I need input from other people, young and old who enjoy these same types of things. Thanks!
What is a good sewing machine for a beginner on a college budget?
I am a dabbler in the arts (so far I have made jewelry, drawn, painted, cooked, danced, sung, acted, and sculpted) and I would like to start getting into sewing and making clothing. I attempted to hand sew a couple of garments but ran into WAY too many problems. I go to college, but will be graduating in a year or so. I would like to start making the designs in my head, but I have no machine and don’t really know where to start looking for a good one. I have a couple of part time jobs right now so I figure I can afford to spend up to about $100. That’s about half of one paycheck for me. My parents are helping me pay for school. I know I would still have to buy patterns and other materials, but I really need the sewing machine to start out with. And if anyone has any advice as to patterns or easy materials to work with, it would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks for your help!
How do I let down a friend gently when she asked me to buy something?
A few days ago, a classmate said that she made jewelry and asked me to buy one from her. Well, I said I’ll take a look at them if she would bring them to school. I was expecting jewelry made from beads, or maybe bracelets braided together. I wasn’t expecting to show me a wrist band made out of paper that she decorated using markers.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not appalled by her drawing skills or anything. It’s just that I’m an art student, and her bracelet wasn’t that appealing. When she asked me if I would buy it, I couldn’t think fast enough (I couldn’t say “No, I don’t like it” or simply “No, I won’t buy it” because that would be rude), so I just stalled and said, “Sure, if I bring money tomorrow.”
She’s not really a friend. I met her for only a week or so, so we’re acquaintances. But I don’t really want to buy the bracelet. Is there some clever way to back out of this if she asks me tomorrow, without hurting her feelings?
May I have your opinion PLEASE?
I was going to go into detail about the painting but decided I want an honest opinion. So I’m just going to give you the facts that way I get your ‘first impression’ when you see it, which to me is the most important.
Please glance @ my painting and tell me what you think, and don’t be shy to tell me if you don’t like it. I understand that this type of art doesn’t appeal to everyone.
I’m thinking about making a Special Edition Series to go along with this piece but don’t if i should go through all the trouble
1) I don’t know if this style/ subject is enough, although inspiring.
2) Not sure if its illegal to paint characters/ sale from a video game that is obviously copyrighted.
3) dont know if its good enough to sell….. (sigh)
Any opinions or advice would be SO SO SO APPRECIATED!;))
